United Nations Cyber Schoolbus - A great place to start! Includes: curriculum, resources, quizzes and games, an art gallery and an opportunity for teachers to test and comment on activities / curriculum in exchange for free materials.

BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) - News, current events, archive of articles, links, analysis, and commentary. The South Asia page highlights the area where Central Asia Institute works. This site is available in many languages. Invite the students to change the site to Urdu or Pashtu for them to see what the site would look like to a student in Pakistan or Afghanistan.

Afghanistan Online - Links to official government sites, charities, media and general resources. A richly diverse site which includes history, culture, economy, Islam, as well as links to a photo gallery.

UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) - Student discussions, teachers’ forum, country info.

UNHCR (United Nations High Commission on Refugees) - Select Publications, then Teaching Tools and follow the links to units and lesson plans for ages 9 and older.

Asian Educational Media Service at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign - Helps educators find and use media materials for teaching about Asia and Asian cultures. Put Pakistan or Afghanistan into the "search our website" engine.

World Bank Group - Geared specifically for kids. View information on children in other cultures and the issues they face. Put Pakistan or Afghanistan in their search engine.

National Geographic Xpeditions and National Geographic Magazine - Resources for students & teachers, including lesson plans, maps and interesting facts about cultures and places around the world.
